“As long as we are not ourselves, we will try to be what other people are.” -Malidoma Patrice Somé
I have learned how truly important it is to be who we are purposed to be and the best version of it. Below are a few tips/questions I have learned and reflected upon along my self-discovery journey in figuring out my purpose and passion in life….
Now, first and foremost, for me, being who God has destined me to be is where I began—this included constant prayer, listening, being patient, and being consistent, and these are also part of a journey, not a destination. Not always easy, but I have realized it is much harder in the long run when I don’t allow this to be first!
Self discovery of passions and desires-1. Look at who and what inspires you 2. Who do you inspire? What do you enjoy most about your life right now? Does it yield positive, healthy results?
Who or what are you allowing to hold you back? Past hearts? Fear? Lack of motivation?
Feedback- Listening to constructive feedback from wise people who have a genuine interest(not their own agenda) in helping you move forward with your passions can be a valuable tool
Challenge your comfort zones! Sometimes, being pushed beyond what makes a person at ease can be daunting and scary, but it is also in those times when a person can realize just how strong they truly are and what they are capable of doing and being.
Remember, not everyone will be happy for your success, so don’t look for them for validation as to who YOU are supposed to be!
Celebrate your big and small successes!
